Cape Girardeau, MO posts a significant acceleration this week, with its Overall Fit Score jumping by +10.77 points to 31.33, signaling rapidly tightening freight conditions and a more competitive outbound environment heading into late November.

Outbound Tender Volume rose to 33.1, more than double the Inbound Tender Volume of 15.4, generating a strong Head Haul Index of 17.7. This substantial outbound–inbound imbalance highlights sustained demand leaving the market, paired with slower inbound replenishment—conditions that typically indicate tightening truckload capacity.
The Outbound Tender Reject Index (OTRI) increased to 22.94, a notable rise from early-October levels near 10.72. This jump reflects carriers exercising greater selectivity over contracted freight and a market where routing guide pressure is intensifying. Elevated rejection rates suggest competitive spot opportunities and reduced availability among carriers.
Overall, Cape Girardeau’s freight landscape is transitioning into a capacity-constrained phase. The sharp rise in the fit score, combined with strong outbound volume and higher rejection rates, underscores an increasingly active and tightening market. If these trends continue, Cape Girardeau is poised for firming rates and heightened carrier leverage moving into the final stretch of Q4.
